Pay Scale
No Prior Experience:
Hourly Rate: £13.00 per hour
Annual Salary: £26,364 (excluding sleep-ins)
Sleep-in Pay: £70 per sleep-in shift
Overtime: Voluntary

Grade 1 – For People with No or Very Little Experience
This role is for individuals with little to no experience working with learning disabilities. Support workers in this grade will be guided through their probation period by a mentor (possibly the Service Manager). Key probation milestones include:
Induction Booklet: Successful completion.
Care Certificate: Successful completion.
Shadowing: Time spent shadowing experienced team members.
One-on-One Support: Transition from shadowing to working directly with supported individuals.
CPI Safety Intervention Training: Completion of this programme.
The probation period typically lasts 24 weeks. Upon successful completion, an appraisal by the Service Manager will confirm readiness to move forward. Support workers will then have the opportunity to enrol in a Diploma 2/Diploma 3 course.
Further Training: Throughout employment, workers will complete additional training such as:
Epilepsy
Autism
Challenging Behaviour
First Aid
Food Hygiene
Safeguarding
Medication Handling
Equality and Diversity
Additional in-house and external training will be provided as needed.
Previous Experience Requirements
For applicants with prior experience, the role is suitable for those who have worked with adults or children with learning disabilities, managed complex or challenging behaviour, or worked with adults with mental health issues. Experience can be from a previous job or academic background.
