Pay Scale for Grade 2: Experienced Staff
- Hourly Rate: £13.70 per hour
- Annual Salary: £27,783.60 (excluding sleep-ins)
- Sleep-in Pay: £70 per sleep-in shift
- Overtime: Voluntary
Desired Qualifications:
- NVQ/Diploma 2 in care or an equivalent qualification (desirable, not mandatory for all candidates).
Experience Requirements for Grade 2
At least 12 months of relevant experience working with:
- Adults with learning disabilities (with or without challenging/complex behaviours)
- Adults with mental health problems
- Children with learning disabilities (with or without challenging/complex behaviours)
This experience can be from any previous employment, not exclusively with Zeno. The applicant will need to provide evidence of continuous experience.
For Existing Staff: Promotion from Grade 1 to Grade 2
Annual Appraisal: After completing 12 months at Zeno, Grade 1 support workers will be reviewed for promotion to Grade 2 based on performance. Key variables considered include:
- Punctuality
- Attendance
- Flexibility
- Work ethic
- Training completed
- Successful completion of PDF and appraisal document
Mentorship Role: Grade 2 staff may be asked to mentor new or less experienced staff.
Early Promotion: If a Grade 1 support worker is performing at a high level, they may be promoted to Grade 2 before completing 12 months.
For New Staff Recruited to Grade 2
A mentor will guide new Grade 2 support workers through the following probation process:
- Induction Booklet: Completion of induction.
- Care Certificate: Completion of the Care Certificate.
- Challenging Behaviour: Training on challenging behaviour.
- E-Learning: Completion of modules within the designated time frame.
- Shadowing: Initial shadowing of experienced team members.
- 1:1 Work: Transition to working directly with supported people.
- CPI Safety Intervention Training: Completion of this training.
Probation Period: Typically lasts 12 weeks, and upon successful completion, the support worker can be enrolled in a Diploma 2 / Diploma 3 course.
Ongoing Training for Grade 2 Support Workers
Grade 2 support workers are expected to complete further training during their employment, including:
- Epilepsy
- Autism
- Challenging Behaviour
- First Aid
- Food Hygiene
- Safeguarding
- Medication Handling
- Equality and Diversity
Additional in-house and external training courses will also be provided as necessary.
