As stated in the Appointee Responsibilities section, the appointee must spend the benefit in the person’s best interests. This includes ensuring that daily living expenses are covered.
In the supported living setting with ZENO Ltd, a budget is agreed with the manager of the service that should be within the person’s income. This needs to consider regular weekly outgoings on things such as food, toiletries and activities, monthly costs such as utilities, fuel (which is paid for via a fuel card and invoiced monthly) and any waste disposal costs (i.e. where a person has incontinence requirements).
The appointee and service manager need to consider the needs of the person and apportion amounts of the budget to the spend in these areas. As the budget is a best guess, the actual spend will always vary from the budget.
