It’s amazing to think that the seeds of ZENO were sown in 2004, with some basic conversations around if it was possible to create a new healthcare business in Manchester to support adults with a learning disability.
After a lot more conversations and debates with industry leaders and banks, the business started in 2005 with the first service, Osborne Road. We started with a collection of people, who had great experience and who personally
took huge risks in joining a new service provider with no track record!
As we look back now over the last 20 years, there have been a lot more highs than lows, including winning national and local awards, opening the RRR, watching team members grow, supporting people that other providers, including the NHS were unable to support, seeing the values continue to be honoured through all services, the first environment that supported people to avoid hospitals and the MHA, through to the deaths of some of our loved supported people, navigating Covid-19 and challenging CQC inspections.
There was never a thought that ZENO would grow to the size it is in 2025, however, as the business started to grow, more and more good people joined the teams, the business organically grew, fuelled by word of mouth recommendations from the parents of the people we felt so lucky to have been chosen to support. There has always been and continues to be a real need for high quality providers and services, to enable individuals with a Learning Disability, to lead fulfilling lives in a community setting.
We are very proud of what we have all achieved and we are always aware of how fortunate we are to have such loyal and hard-working team members, who have the dedication and passion for ensuring that the most vulnerable people are supported to achieve their life goals.
We look forward to the next 20 years of service, watching individuals thrive and seeing the “Zeno Family” grow.
